UCG has a new major shareholder
Windhaven Care Holdings, part of the Windhaven Group, is pleased to announced that effective 1st December 2013 it has purchased the majority holding in the Ultimate Care Group.
Established in 2006, UCG currently owns and operates 16 residential aged care facilities throughout New Zealand. They manage 838 aged care beds and 145 independent living units which are co-located with the aged care facilities.
Windhaven Care is a new entry into the aged care sector. It is a privately owned kiwi company with investments in a wide range of businesses in New Zealand, Australia and globally. They are excited about the long term prospects of UCG to grow to be a significant contributor to this sector.
Under the new ownership, UCG will be continuing on its already proud record of operational stability and security. However, it is also Windhaven’s intention to take UCG into new areas and activities. Ben Unger, CEO of Windhaven, says “We were attracted to UCG by its unique mix of facilities, geographical spread and quality operations. It is set up to be able to do so much more, and we expect under our ownership we can realise that potential”.
Management of the business will continue to be overseen by the existing team of Ron Spraggon, General Manager, and Paul Stephenson, Chief Financial Officer, supplemented and supported by Windhaven resources. Unger adds “We would not have bought the business without the depth and quality of the existing team at UCG”.
